So, I just got to Mom's house after spending the majority of the day on a bus, and checked my e-mail to learn that someone was inexplicably kind enough to give Amat!Rue a paid account plus extra userpics. Okay, that's all I have to say right now. This is just exciting for me. I've never had a paid account. I'll try to write something more interesting later.

Highlights of the past few days IRL:

--Dad was in town for a few days. We wandered around and had delicious meals.
--I got a hat as an early birthday present, and it is quite awesome.
--No more tests until finaaaals! Except, wait, that's only a few weeks away, and I have a paper to write over Thanksgiving break ....

On the RP front:

--Rue died. Crai. I'll probably post with her a bit after she's resurrected, either later tonight or tomorrow.
--Need to get moving on the EC~

For the record, it's cool if you want to go anonymous. Or to not do it at all. xD I'm just a concrit whore, so I couldn't resist. If you decide to do it, honesty is appreciated.

So, after spending a couple days having frantic phone conversations with Dad, reading lots of Calvin and Hobbes, and eating lots of chocolate, I was able to get a new laptop last night.

There will be no liquids brought within a three-foot radius of this thing, if I have anything to say about it.  *cracks knuckles* 

So.

Guess who spilled orange juice on her laptop?

Taking it to the campus IT Help place super early tomorrow.  I'm in the library right now.

--I tripped down the stairs on Saturday.  I do not have enough cooling packs for all the places on my lower body that hurt.  Walking around campus all day today didn't help, either.

--Watched Umineko No Naku Koro Ni up to episode 14.  All serika_san 's fault.  Need to figure out when new episodes air.

--Roommate mentioned in previous entry stopped playing those two songs.  I can't quite convey how much of a relief this was.


Okay, time to go read up on Lenin et. al.  And figure out the best way to get a cooling pack to stay on my lower hip without contorting myself in such a way as to make the problem worse.

It has come to my attention that the songs Ego, by Beyonce Knowles, and Sexy Bitch, by David Guetta are the pinnacles of musical genius.

I can't think of any other reason my roommate would find it necessary to have had them on a constant loop all afternoon.

Grandma sent me a care package with a beautifully obscene amount of chocolate today. It should easily last the rest of the semester, even taking into account the way I eat when I work on papers and math homework. Most of it is dark and European, and some of it involves coffee and nuts, so I'm a very happy camper. Grandma did the same thing last year, and I sometimes suspect that she does this so that I will maintain a consistent weight even without the temptations of the foods of home (barbecue, tamales, fried chicken alkjaslkasdf) when I'm at school. But I can't exactly complain. xD

And now that I've made you read about my eating habits, have a fannish5 for your trouble.

Money makes me feel so stupid, I swear.  I wish I didn't have to keep asking my dad for help, but it feels like I'm working with a foreign language.  Gah.  At least I got more financial aid this year than last year.  If I can get straight As and find a job (pretty please?), maybe I'll be able to get somewhere.  Mostly, I just hate feeling dependent, and this makes me feel more dependent than anything else in my life.

But whatever.

The weather is finally approaching bearable, I'm listening to happy music, and I'm going back to school in less than a week.  All in all, I feel pretty good, really.  I'm a little apprehensive about meeting my new roommate, but I feel infinitely better about going to school this year than I did last year.  I'll actually know my way around and have friends, and my schedule for this semester is looking kind of beautiful in terms of times, even if I don't have a lot of classes I'm excited about.  

Somewhere in there, I feel like things come out even.

I'm thinking Oreos and ginger ale for dinner sounds like a great idea.  Except I should freeze the Oreos first.  And then afterward I can take a long, cold shower and go collapse upstairs in the air conditioning.

No, there's not going to be any more substance to this post.  My brain has melted from roleplay crack and heat.  Just wanted to let people know I'm alive, in certain senses of the word.

Let's see, now.  A few things of interest (to me):

--I'm in California right now, visiting my uncles.  Much as I like coming here, I miss the east coast.  Saturday after next, I'll be going to New York to stay with Mom until I go back to school.

--Tomorrow, we're going to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.  I fully expect it to be awesome, because it always is.  I think this year I'll try doing short write-ups on the plays we see.

--I'm slowly, slowly writing Princess Tutu fanfiction.  I've only got a page, so far, but I'm pretty happy with it, which is more than I can usually say about anything I write.
